HONG KONG, December 18, 2025 – Cactus Custody, a leading institutional digital asset custodian, participated in the “Web5 Ecosystem: Pioneering the New Era of Global Wealth Management” Summit, co-hosted by Fosun Wealth and Finloop.
During the summit’s panel titled “Enabling Hong Kong’s Web3.0 Development Through Compliant Web2 + Web3 Integration,” Cynthia Wu, Co-founder and CBDO of Matrixport, represented Cactus Custody. She joined industry leaders from the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES), Taikang Asset Management (Hong Kong), JunHe LLP, and OSL to discuss the critical role of robust infrastructure in the evolution of Hong Kong’s digital asset landscape.
Custody: The Bedrock of Asset Management
Addressing the strategic direction of Hong Kong’s Web3 sector, Cynthia emphasized that the city’s core strength lies in its deep capital markets and its status as an Asian liquidity center. However, to translate this financial depth into the digital asset space, robust infrastructure is paramount.
“For institutional participants engaging with digital assets across different asset types—such as funds, ETFs, or tokenized real-world assets—confidence in asset safety is critical.” Cynthia stated. “Ongoing regulatory developments relating to digital asset custody form part of the broader evolution of Hong Kong’s digital asset ecosystem, alongside industry efforts to strengthen infrastructure and risk management practices.”
Cynthia highlighted that Cactus Custody has operated with Hong Kong as its primary hub for the past few years, providing essential custodial services to a range of institutional digital asset market participants, and contributing to the market’s operational resilience.
Key Areas of Industry Discussion: Stablecoins and Tokenized RWAs
Looking ahead, Wu identified stablecoins and tokenized Real World Assets (RWA) as areas of focus within an evolving regulatory framework.
“Among various digital asset use cases, stablecoins have attracted particular attention in industry discussions.” Cynthia noted, pointing to the scale of Hong Kong’s trillion-dollar payment ecosystem.
In addition, Cynthia commented that, from an operational perspective, tokenized RWAs are frequently cited in the context of enhancing transparency in ownership records and streamlining certain post-trade and settlement processes, compared with traditional processes.
Collaboration in Sovereign RWA Tokenization Initiatives
Demonstrating proven capabilities in this arena, Cynthia shared that Matrixdock (an associated brand) recently signed a partnership with the Government of Bhutan to issue a sovereign-grade gold token (TER).
Cynthia concluded that the project offered first-hand experience in designing and operating custody and control frameworks for tokenized RWAs. She noted that such experience provides meaningful input into ongoing discussions around strengthening institutional custody infrastructure in Hong Kong.
